Tamworth Borough Council is pleased to announce the success of its Tenant Conference held on Tuesday 28 October, at the Assembly Rooms. The event provided an invaluable opportunity for council tenants and leaseholders to engage directly with council housing services and share their views.

The free to attend conference ran from 1.30pm to 5.30pm and kicked off with an open exhibition, allowing attendees to speak directly with council services, and gather information about the various tenant involvement opportunities available. This drop-in session provided residents with a chance to meet and engage with the team and partners, ask questions, and explore how they can get more involved in shaping the future of their homes and communities.

Following the exhibition, the main conference session took place from 3.30pm, featuring presentations from key speakers including Stop Social Housing Stigma, Tpas and Goom Electrical Ltd. These talks were specially selected in collaboration with the involved tenant groups and focused on crucial issues affecting tenants and leaseholders, as well as best practices for improving services.

The council are always looking for residents who want to get involved in shaping the services that impact them. Whether you want to influence decisions about housing policies, take part in focus groups, or help share key messages, there are plenty of ways to get involved, with commitment levels ranging from as little as two to three hours a month.

Ways to get involved:

  • Tenant consultative group: Consult on all tenant related policies, procedures, and issues.
  • Tenant involvement group: Oversee the implementation of the Tenant Voice Strategy 2025-2030.
  • Tenant editorial panel: Help plan, design, and contribute to the Open House magazine for tenants.
  • Seniors united: For residents in sheltered housing to share experiences and discuss issues.
  • Complaints review panel: Review complaints to identify trends and recommend service improvements.
  • Tenant inspectors: Audit and monitor communal cleaning services.
  • Focus groups, surveys and consultations: Share feedback through surveys and organised consultations.
  • Antisocial behaviour scrutiny group: Oversee service improvements in tackling ASB.
