Tamworth Borough Council Grant Schemes

Tamworth Borough Council Grant Schemes support community, not for profit organisations and not for profit projects that work collaboratively and flexibly to meet the needs of our communities.

On 1 February 2024 Cabinet approved the management of Tamworth Borough Council’s Community Grant Schemes through The Community Foundation for Staffordshire.

The Community Foundation for Staffordshire is an independent charity dedicated to strengthening local communities across Staffordshire and Shropshire.

It aims to tackle issues of disadvantage and exclusion through the building of permanent endowments and the allocation of grants.

The Foundation is one of more than 40 community foundations throughout the United Kingdom, and is member of ‘ UKCF ‘, who promote closer working and opportunities for all Foundations throughout the country.

Applicants can apply to more than one councillor in a ward, or to councillors in other wards, if the project supports communities in more than one ward however, the maximum award per project will be £1500.

Grant applications will be considered and approved by the Portfolio Holder for Cooperative Council, Community Partnerships & ASB and the Assistant Director Regulatory Services, Community Safety, & Partnerships with Assistant Director Environment, Culture and Wellbeing where appropriate.

Organisations should first contact their local Councillor to discuss their project BEFORE submitting an application.

Projects we can support

Projects which build connections across communities. We are looking for projects that can bring people together from different backgrounds, including those of different faiths around a shared goal/objective.

Initiatives which help counter or strengthen resilience to mis/disinformation and prevent false and harmful narratives spreading. For example, social media focused ‘critical thinking’ sessions in youth and community settings.
